Maxime’s Research Stay at Simon Fraser University

Thanks to a mobility grant from the Université de Montréal, Maxime Coulombe completed a research stay at Simon Fraser University between January and May 2022 under the supervision of Eline de Rooij. During his visit, Maxime worked on the second paper of his doctoral dissertation, in which he analyzes the influence of abstention disapproval avoidance on turnout in Austria. A first version of the article was presented in June 2022 at the Canadian Political Science Association annual conference. He also had the opportunity to join a research project, with Eline de Rooij, on immigrants’ political attitudes and behaviours in Canada. This research stay was also an excellent opportunity to train for his first marathon and discovers parts of the splendid province of British Columbia.
